HOOPING PARTIES IN THE TRIANGLE

Hi!  I'm Melanie.  I'm 16 and I would love to entertain at your child's party!  I will provide fun and festive entertainment for children from 5 to 10 years old in the Durham area.

I've been hooping since 2009.  I've been trained by professional hoop dancers Julia (Jewels) Hartsell Crews and Sara Phoenix.  I performed at my school and at my summer camp.  I went to Leadership Training Camp at the Carolina Friends School, worked as a Counselor-in-Training at the Friends School and at the Emerson Waldorf School, served as a Crew Leader at the Vacation Bible Camp at our church, and was a Junior Aide for my sister's Daisy Girl Scout Troop. 

Currently I attend the Durham School of the Arts, Chorus and Drama pathways.  I'm on the Ultimate Frisbee Team and a member of the Singer-Songwriter Club and the HOMIES Club.  I am a graduate of Immaculata Catholic School, where I played volleyball, acted in plays, sang in the choir, and directed the Junior Choir.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A HOOPING PARTY?

First, I talk a little -- I introduce myself, talk about what we will do, and explain the rules (allow space between you and your neighbor, stop when the whistle blows, stuff like that).

Then I do a short performance to kid-friendly music, sometimes with more than one hoop.

After that, I hand out hoops (provided by me or by the party host, depending on the package) and give a lesson to the group.

And after that, we play games.  This depends on the number and ages of the children, but these are some of the games we might play: 

• Bean Bag Toss (toss a bean bag into a hoop on the floor)

• Bean Bag Basket (toss a bean bag through a hoop and into a basket)

• Pass the Hoop (slip a hoop onto one child's arm; have all children join hands and form a line or circle; pass the hoop from child to child without letting go)

• Musical Hoops (like musical chairs, with hoops on the floor to jump in instead of chairs to sit on)

• Bumper Hoops (each child stands within a hoop then runs around and bumps hoops with other children)

• Hoop Frog Relay (like leap frog, except crawling through hoops)

• Hoopla Marathon (see who can hoop the longest)

• Ringers (tossing hoops at targets)

And we might finish with a Follow-the-Leader Birthday Parade from the play area to the birthday cake table.

We have lots of fun and excitement without chaos!

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

The cost of a party depends on which package you choose.  Please see below for different options and prices.

PACKAGE A: FESTIVE!

30 minutes of age-appropriate, high energy performance, lessons, and interactive games, including prizes for everyone and a special gift for the birthday child!

• Kid-friendly music!
• Fun without chaos!

**Party host provides hoops.**

$50 for up to 10 children; $5 for each additional child.  15 children maximum. 

PACKAGE B: FUN!

60 minutes of age-appropriate, high energy performance, lessons, and interactive games, including a hoop for each child at the party, prizes for everyone, and a special gift for the birthday child!

• Kid-friendly music!
• Fun without chaos!
• 1 hoop for each child at the party!

$100 for up to 10 children; $10 for each additional child. 15 children maximum.

PACKAGE C: LUAU!

Aloha!  60 minutes of tropical-themed, age-appropriate, high energy performance, lessons, and interactive games.  The Luau Package includes a hoop and party favors for each child at the party, prizes for everyone, and a special gift for the birthday child!

 

• Kid-friendly music, featuring a special playlist with Hawaiian songs!
• Fun without chaos!
• 1 hoop, flower lei, bubbles, and sunglasses for each child at the party!

 

$200 for up to 10 children; $20 for each additional child. 15 children maximum.


 

PACKAGE D: RETRO!

Fab! 60 minutes of age-appropriate, high energy performance, lessons, and interactive games with a nostalgic vibe. The Retro Package includes a hoop and party favors for each child at the party, prizes for everyone, and a special gift for the birthday child!

 

• Kid-friendly music, featuring a special playlist with music from the 1950s and 1960s!
• Fun without chaos!
• 1 hoop, pair of plush dice, bubbles, and sunglasses for each child at the party!

$200 for up to 10 children; $20 for each additional child. 15 children maximum.

PACKAGE E: FIESTA!

¡Olé!  60 minutes of age-appropriate, high energy performance, lessons, and interactive games, with Spanish flair. The Fiesta Package includes a hoop and party favors for each child at the party, prizes for everyone, and a special gift for the birthday child! 

The Fiesta Package ALSO includes a pull-string piñata filled with nut-free treats!

 

• Kid-friendly music, featuring a special playlist with Latin American music!


• Fun without chaos!


• 1 hoop, sombrero, bubbles, and maracas for each child at the party!


• 1 pull-string piñata filled with nut-free treats!

$300 for up to 10 children; $30 for each additional child. 15 children maximum.
